Ron Stewart - Playing Fiddle In The Bluegrass Style

Ron Stewart is one of bluegrass music’s most sought after fiddlers. He recently toured with bluegrass super star Dan Tyminski as a member of The Dan Tyminski Band, and is a top session player when new bluegrass projects are being recorded. He currently is playing with the new group The Boxcars.  On this 90 minute DVD release, Ron discusses his approach to playing bluegrass fiddle, and teaches a number of breaks he takes on recordings, as well as several of his own tunes.

After some introductory discussion about tone production and bows, Ron is right into the music. First up are a number of breaks he has cut on vocal songs, where he shows the basic melody before demonstrating how he played his solo. Ron also covers a number of great fiddle tunes, plus several instrumentals he has written, offering a great look at how this superb musician approaches bluegrass fiddle.
